Director / VP of Project Management
This is a genuine stepping stone to COO.
A leading construction firm focused on commercial projects is building out its NYC metro leadership, and this is a newly created seat with real room above it. For the right person, it's a path to Chief Operating Officer. You'd start by owning project-management performance across the NY Metro region and grow into broader operational leadership from there.
If you're wondering what's next for you in your career and want to lead the leaders, not just projects - this could be it. You'd be joining at the front end of serious, planned growth, so the scope only widens as the region scales: more team, more platform, more say in how the business runs.
You'll be the one who sets the standard for how the whole operation performs, develops the talent that carries the growth, and owns the P&L for the function - the commercial performance of the whole region, not delivery targets on a handful of jobs. You're not just running the region - you’re building the structure that lets it grow: the team, the standards, and the commercial discipline to take on more without losing its edge.
And the COO path isn't a carrot - it's the plan. The firm is deliberately building its next generation of operational leadership, and this seat is the entry point.
About you:
· 10+ years in construction Project Management and/ or operations in NYC, ideally contractor-side
· Proven experience leading at the Senior Project Manager and Project Executive level - you've managed the managers
· Strong commercial and financial acumen - you've owned profitability at a function or regional level, not just project level
· The leadership presence and appetite to grow into broader operational leadership
